Looking For A Cheap Vacation. Do I need a Travel Agent?
Historically the first port of call when you are looking to find a cheap
travel deal has been the local travel agent. There are certain drawbacks
with such a course of action, however, when you compare this means of
arranging a vacation with doing so independently with the assitance of
the internet
travel and travel comparison sites.
The first is that, although you may give explicitly clear instructions to the travel agents about the requirements of your trip, travel agent might well come back to you with one or more suggestions that bear little or no relationship to what you want. Secondly, you may find, after giving the travel agent a top line price for your vacation, their suggestions are all at the upper limit or, in some cases, even higher.
Thirdly, there often appears to be a lack of flexibility when trying to find your ideal cheap vacation through an agent. It is almost as if you are required to compromise on one or more of your vacation premises in order to fit in with what the agency has available.
Finally, by their nature, travel agents operate during the normal hours of business. This means that if you are a full time worker, you will have to deal with the agent during the course of your own working day. This can be quite difficult unless you are the boss of the business or someone else who is reasonably high in the pecking order.
With all of the above in mind, therefore, you may decide that you prefer to try to find your ideal vacation independently by using all of the modern day tools that are now available to you. In the remainder of this article we look at some tips that you may wish to incorporate into your personal vacation search.
